A man was seriously injured in a house fire in Eindhoven.
The fire broke out in a house on Lemmenslaan at around 23:20 on Tuesday. The wounded man is said to be the former occupant of the house and, apparently, started the fire himself. Emergency services were quick to respond, and they quickly brought the fire under control. The police suspect it could be arson.
The house had recently been emptied and auctioned off. Residents say they saw the previous owner climb in through the dormer. After the fire, however, there was no trace of the occupant. The fire did not spread to other houses.
Burns
Later that night, the emergency control room received a report from Veldhoven of a man with burn wounds. He was found not far from the fire in Eindhoven. The man’s face was burned, and he had soot on his hands. An ambulance and trauma helicopter were called, and according to a nurse, the man was “very, very, seriously injured”.
According to the Fire Brigade, it was the man who was suspected of the arson in Eindhoven earlier that evening. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, the man has not yet been arrested. He does, however, remain a suspect. He is in a critical condition and was transported by helicopter to the burn centre in Rotterdam. The house where the fire occurred was put under guard. Today, the police are conducting further investigations.
