The Parktheater was evacuated on Monday evening. A fire had broken out in a technical rig. The cause is still unknown.

At the time, a school musical performance for a primary school was taking place in the building. A few dozen people were present in the Hertog Jan Zaal, the main hall of the theatre.

The fire department responded with three vehicles. This is standard procedure for fire alarms in buildings where many people are present.

Quickly under control

According to those who were there, there was smoke coming from the equipment. The situation was quickly under control. Within 15 minutes after the fire alarm was rung, everyone was allowed back into the building. And the students could resume their performance. This made their farewell to the primary school even more exciting than a final musical normally is.

This is the second time, within a year, that there has been a fire at the theatre. In October, there was a fire in the basement. Back then, the situation was also quickly under control. Performances could continue as normal afterwards.
