This evening (Wednesday), people can see new video footage of the 2017 parking garage collapse at Eindhoven Airport. The images will be screened during a De Kennis van Nu (Knowledge of Today) broadcast. De Kennis van Nu is the Dutch broadcaster, NTR’s, science programme.
These are never-before-seen images from the Dutch Royal Military Police’s security cameras. The clips show that things could easily have turned out differently, and people could have gotten hurt. For example, just before the collapse, a car can be seen driving on the site.
A team of scientists spent two years doing forensic research into the concrete structure disaster. The cause of the collapse was found using video images. This study will be reconstructed in the De Kennis van Nu broadcast.
Same fault in other buildings
The same construction fault found in the Eindhoven Airport garage is present in many more buildings. According to the NTR programme, it is difficult to find out which structures are affected.
De Kennis van Nu will air on NPO2 at 21:15. There will several repeat broadcasts. On NPO2, these will be on Sunday, 13 October, at 14:50 and Monday, 14 October, at 09:30. Then the same show will be repeated on BVN on Thursday, 17 October, at 00:25 and 12:25.
