Evoluon, Hovenring, Floraplein and the small bridge at the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven were lit in orange on Monday. It was part of a campaign against violence against women.
Eindhoven participated in the Orange the world initiative on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Every year on 25 November, buildings around the world are illuminated in orange. In the Netherlands, more than 50 municipalities participate.
“It is unbelievable that in our country, almost half of women and girls have to deal with violence. In some countries, this is as high as 70%. Eindhoven wants to be a city where people can live happily and peacefully together, and everyone can play their part. That is why we support this campaign”, says Mayor John Jorritsma.
