The police closed down a drug lab in the middle of a residential area of Veldhoven. Synthetic drugs were being produced there. Amphetamine was found during a search of the house. There were also various raw materials and paraphernalia for the production of synthetic drugs.
The lab was located in a shed next to a house in Meerveldhoven. Producing synthetic drugs is very dangerous, the police said. Because of the chemical substances present, there is a very high risk of fire, explosions, and water and air pollution.
Dangerous and irresponsible
This kind of drug lab is, therefore, dangerous and irresponsible. Especially if it is located in the middle of a residential area. “It does not belong here and is a real danger for the surrounding area,” says Delhez.
During the search of the building, two firearms were found. Members of the Landelijke Faciliteit Ontmantelen (National Dismantling Unit) have already dismantled the drugs lab. The methamphetamine, chemicals and paraphernalia have been seized and are being destroyed. The home’s occupant has been arrested.
