Sunday, some 1,500 people took part in the 13th Genneper Parken run.
This charity event traditionally takes place at the start of a new year. Dutch charity “for You” organizes the event. The charity raises money to ensure disabled people in Eindhoven can participate in sports.
As reported earlier by Eindhoven news, money is donated to GP Bulls and Blade Loan, of Eindhoven Atletiek. GP Bulls is an E-hockey club. This club ensures people with a physical disability are still able to participate in their favourite sport, hockey, at the highest level.
Blade Loan ensures athletes can borrow prostheses (blades). Such blades are often very expensive. By borrowing through Blade Loan, the financial threshold for athletes with a disability becomes less high.
Participants in the 2019 Genneper Parken run were able to choose from four distances. The distances were 2, 4, 8 or 14 kilometres. Alderman Steenbakkers, responsible for sports, fired the official starting-shot at the base of hockey club Oranje-Rood.
