PSV increased its lead over competitors Ajax, Feyenoord and PEC Zwolle in the Dutch Premier League, by winning against FC Twente on Sunday. In a truly madcap match at the Philips Stadium, PSV finally won in injury time by 4-3.
During Sunday’s match, PSV managed to lead three times, only for FC Twente to score an equalizer. It took additional, injury time for trainer, Cocu’s team to finally beat the Twente team.
PSV pulled ahead after a quarter of an hour into the match, by Locadia scoring a goal. Shortly afterward, FC Twente scored its first equaliser when Thesker pulled off a header. After the break, it was van Ginkel, who ensured the home team led by 2-1. It took FC Twente’s Lam just seven minutes to score the next equalizer.
Within ten minutes, both teams scored one after the other. First de Jong, wearing PSV colours, finally scored again. Then Jensen ensured FC Twente drew level again. After the regular playing time, PSV ensured it won the match, though with some help from FC Twente.
So PSV not just continues to lead the Dutch Premier League , but also managed to increase its lead over the competition due to the match between PEC Zwolle and Feyenoord ending in a draw, while Ajax was defeated. The difference between PSV and number two, Ajax now amounts to eight points; with number three Feyenoord twelve points behind.
