A temporary reception location of the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) will be built on the Keizersgracht in the center of Eindhoven. The COA works together with two companies side by side: hotel Glow and hotel-restaurant Dirven.
These two buildings are managed as one location by COA. In the part of Glow, 65 unaccompanied minors between the ages of 15 and 18 are taken care of. These are young people who have a very good chance of being allowed to stay in the Netherlands. In the section of Dirven, 40 status holders are taken care of, mainly (married) couples. They already have a permit to stay in the Netherlands.
The COA has had good experiences with combining these two groups of people. The adult beneficiaries can share their experiences, exercise social control and help to familiarize young people.
The COA is obliged to look for temporary solutions to ensure that no unaccompanied minors or status holders are left without a bed and guidance.
The shelter is expected to open in mid-September. The shelter will remain open for 1 year with a possible extension after consultation with local residents, entrepreneurs and other parties involved.
