The Municipality of Nuenen has decided not to house five hundred refugees on the Gulbergen Estate. However, within a week it will come up with an alternative to house two hundred people elsewhere in the village.
According to Alderman Niels Wouters, this will be a location a little closer to the village, with a bus stop, education and other facilities nearby. The Centraal Orgaan opvang asielzoekers (central agency for the reception of asylum seekers, COA) is already working on a plan for this place. Wouters is very clear about the reason for not cooperating with a larger-scale reception site on Gulbergen Estate.
