Couples experiencing difficulties in conceiving, and are receiving treatment at hospital, may well soon have to go to Tilburg for that treatment. The Elizabeth-Tweesteden Hospital is to take over all IVF and ICSI treatments which, up till now, were carried out at Catharinaziekenhuis in Eindhoven.
The laboratory where IVF (in vitro fertilisation) and ICSI (intracytoplasmatic sperm injection) are carried out, is to be moved to Tilburg. Eight members of staff will be moving from Catharinaziekenhuis to Tilburg with the laboratory.
The new system will start from 1 March 2016, after which couples receiving IVF or ICSI treatments will have to travel back and forth to Tilburg. This is only true of that specific part of the treatment. Patients will continue to visit their own gynaecologist.
