Former monastery to become residential complex

The former monastery on the Poeijersstraat in Tongelre is set to be converted to a residential complex, according to plans filed by housing corporation Woonbedrijf.

Woonbedrijf and housing association ‘t Rondeel plan to convert the building into around 16 units with shared facilities such as a kitchen and dining room.

The building itself will house up to eleven units, while another five can be built in the monastery’s old Finnish school, an annexe located in the garden.

If construction is given the green light, all interested parties from ‘t Rondeel will be given an apartment.
