Cars burn out in unrelated incidents

Two cars burnt out in unrelated incidents, at different locations.

Sunday evening, a Volkswagen Golf was utterly destroyed by fire on the Tournooiveld at Geldrop.

The fire brigade was warned around 21:00. On arrival, flames had already engulfed the vehicle. The car is a total write-off. Fortunately, nobody was inside when the fire started.

It is unclear how the car caught fire. Police does not exclude arson. A call for witnesses to come forward, was made through twitter by using the twitter account Burgernet N-Brabant.

Burgernet (“civil network”) is a joint collective of citizens, local government and police aiming to improve local security. Burgernet N-Brabant is the twitter account used by the Noord-Brabant network.

Police is investigating this case. They can be reached for tip-offs by calling 0900-8844.

Monday morning, another car burnt out at the Locatellistraat, in Eindhoven.

The car was parked along the street when around 11 o’clock, fire suddenly broke out. Once the fire brigade arrived, they quickly extinguished the fire. By then, however, this car had also become a write-off.

A short-circuit likely caused this fire. The fire brigade disconnected the battery. A salvage company towed away the wreck.
