New Philips CAO: employees receive a higher salary

Philips CAO

Philips has reached a final agreement with the unions (FNV Metaal, CNV, De Unie, and VHP2) on a new Collective Labour Agreement (CAO). Employees will receive higher salaries and investments in areas such as training and health.

The union members agreed to the proposed CAO with a term of 2 years, starting on July 1, 2024. For example, a collective salary increase of three per cent as of December 1, 2024 and three percent as of September 1, 2025.

In addition, there will be better compensation for working at special times, including a new overtime scheme in which full-timers and part-timers are paid similarly. And in 2025 and 2026, a personal training budget will be available for employees.

The interesting factor is the agreement that employees from the age of sixty – in the run-up to retirement – will receive higher compensation for part-time work and that the minimum commuting distance for travel expenses will be abolished.

Broad package

“We are pleased that we have reached an agreement with the unions, which consists of a broad package of measures that further improve and modernise the employment conditions of our employees,” says Sylvia van Es, president of Philips Netherlands.

“This will allow us to ensure that Philips remains an attractive employer in the Netherlands with an above-average employment conditions package, but also that we remain internationally competitive through responsible cost policy.”

Van Es calls it ‘very positive’ that agreements have been made for two years. “This provides peace and certainty and enables us to jointly focus on the production and innovation of products that improve people’s health and well-being.”
