Joep Houterman (57) is the new Chairman of the Fontys Hogescholen Executive Board. The official appointment will take place on 1 March 2020.
Houterman has held the chair since the departure of Nienke Meijer on January 1 and has been a member of the Executive Board of Fontys since August 2018
Joep Houterman thinks it is an honor and a great challenge to be able to lead Fontys. “Let’s face it: Fontys is a wonderful, leading knowledge institution with a central role in the southern Netherlands, where more than 4,500 colleagues do their best every day with great passion and expertise to further develop the talents of 45,000 students. But: we can certainly further improve ourselves in a number of areas. I would really like to contribute to that in the coming years,” says Houterman.

Now that Houterman is Chairman of the Executive Board, the search for a third member of the Board continues. Tijs Breukink currently fulfills this position on an interim basis. Fontys wants the vacancy to be filled by a woman.
