There is both a new timetable and a new bus stop planned for Meubelboulevard at IKEA in Ekkersrijt. The new stop will replace the existing Meubelplein bus stop.

The municipality has set a goal to optimize the transport to and accessibility of Ekkersrijt, and in particular to the Meubelboulevard. Construction of the new HOV bus stop will start in December. It should be ready for use on 15 December.

“We expect that the relocation of the Meubelplein stop to this new location on the main road on the Meubelboulevard will lead to more daily users of public transport,” says Municipal Executive Boersma. “Staff from surrounding companies are encouraged with the offer of this stop to take the bus more frequently when travelling from home to work and thus make their daily travel behaviour more sustainable.”

Diversions
Contractors will partially close the Meubelboulevard on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 December due to the construction of the bus stop. Traffic to the parking areas will be diverted with signs.
Easier transfers
The bus numbers 406, 21 and 22 will also stop at this end stop in a stopover next to the highway. It will, therefore, be easier to make a transfer. The new stop area offers more space for two buses. Furthermore, there is an extended timetable that starts in December. Buses will run before and after the opening times of the stores.
