On Thursday evening a big dinner was hosted in the Van der Valk hotel in Eindhoven to raise money for the city’s homeless community.

Various regional companies participated in the initiative of the Springplank040 homeless organisation. “The ultimate goal is to make contacts and, in the end, to be able to help the homeless better,” says Thijs Eradus of Springplank. This organisation helps homeless people find jobs.

Companies donated money at the dinner. The amount raised will go toward a shelter and assistance. “The night shelter for the homeless is often a dark, spooky place where people feel timid. We want to set up a new shelter with a completely different feel”, says Eradus.

Where the money will go

Some of the funds raised will also be used to help the homeless tackle their debt problems. The aim is to give these people some financial support. Springplank also wants to use the extra money to involve companies more in helping this vulnerable group.

Company employees paid €80 per person for this dinner. “This will make them ‘Friends of Springplank‘. Guest could participate in auctions too, all of which benefit the homeless,” says Eradus.
