ASML’s profit higher than expected

ASML has recorded more profit than expected. The Veldhoven chip machine manufacturer announced this.

The business recorded over EUR475 million profit for the past quarter. That is a third more than in the first quarter. Their turnover also rose to EUR2.6 billion.

Chief Executive, Peter Wennink, expects 2019 to become a nice growth year for ASML. Although the demand for memory chips decreased, the international demand for the Veldhoven company’s new EUV machines has increased. The new chip machines are worth around EUR200 million each and make it possible to produce faster chips. In the third quarter, a further revenue growth of up to EUR3 billion is expected.

ASML is a major job creator in the high-tech region of Eindhoven. In recent years, hundreds of people have been employed per month by the rapidly growing business. The campus in Veldhoven now employs more than 12.000 people.
