Airport may get new director

Roel Hellemons has been nominated as the new director of Eindhoven Airport.

The airport’s shareholders must still approve his nomination. These shareholders are the province of Brabant, Eindhoven Municipality, and Royal Schiphol Group.

The 47-year-old Hellemons has worked at the Royal Schiphol Group since 1998. He was appointed as Schiphol International’s Director last year. Before that, he held various management roles for this airport company in the Netherlands and Australia.

If his nomination is approved, Hellemons will take over from the current director, Joost Meijs, on 1 July. Meijs has held this position since October 2008.

Under Meijs’s leadership, the airport has experienced steady growth in passenger numbers. Meijs will become the director of the Aruba national airport on 1 September.
