There will be additional research done into the possibility of a national museum of design in the Eindhoven region.

Minister of Culture, Ingrid van Engelshoven, promised this in the Dutch House of Representatives. She is getting the Dutch Government’s most important advisory body in the area of culture, the Council for Culture, to research such a museum.

Design ideas need to be well-preserved

The Minister has does so after a proposal by two national political parties, the D66 and VVD. On Monday, in the House of Representatives, these parties insisted on a national museum of design in the Brabant region. In response, the Minister said that it is important to archive design well and in an accessible manner.

The call for a design museum in the region is not new. For example, there is an idea of turning the Evoluon into such a museum. Philips is selling the building and is still searching for a new owner and a new purpose for it.
