It is the yearly Neighbourhood Watch Appreciation Day in Acht this weekend. On Saturday between 12:00 and 18:00 all these volunteers will be acknowledged for their contribution to the neighbourhood watch.
Mayor Jorritsma will open the day on behalf of the City Council. Chairman of Acht’s Village Council, Remco van Dooren, will welcome everyone. There will be various activities organised by organisations who have benefitted from the neighbourhood watch. These include the fire department and Stichting Hart voor Acht.
There are about 1 100 people involved in neighbourhood watches throughout the whole of Eindhoven. They take a walk through their neighbourhood every day in a recognisable yellow vest. In this way, they keep an eye out for strange happenings in their area. If they see anything suspicious, they get into contact with emergency services.
