Top swimmer Ranomi Kromowidjojo and paralympic wheeler Kenny Weeghel from Eindhoven are appointed honorary citizen of the province Noord-Brabant.
They received the honor for their achievements and ambassadorship for the sport. The ceremony was Tuesday in the provincial house of Den Bosch.
Besides Kromowidjojo and Van Weeghel, another six Brabant athletes received a medal, like Gerard de Rooij of the Dakar Rally and darts player Michael van Gerwen.
Since the first award in 1973, there have been a number of people from Eindhoven distinguished, including Rein Welschen, former mayor of Eindhoven and Wim van der Leegte, former CEO of VDL- Groep.
