The translocation of the statue of Frits Philips is one step closer now the municipality issued a permit.
The statue will be moved from the Markt to the corner of the Mathildelaan and Emmasingel, in front of the Lichttoren where the ‘drop’ is located. Objections can still be made, but that does not necessarily ensure that the transfer will not continue.
In 2013, there were calls to move the statue. During events on the Markt ‘Mr. Frits’ was often wedged. In front of the Lichttoren is more space. Besides that, it is also the place of a significant part of the history of Philips.
