Sunday, a pram with a 3-month-old boy rolled into the water near the Waterfront in Meerhoven. He died in hospital later that night.
As soon as it happened, the mother jumped into the water and rescued the boy. Police and firemen rushed to the spot and tried to revive the baby, but he passed away in hospital later.
Investigation shows that it was an accident.
The festive opening of the playground ‘Speelbos’ in Park Meerland, planned this coming Sunday, has been cancelled. The municipality decided to cancel all activities that day because of the fatal accident that occurred Sunday.
