Wereldwinkel celebrates 40th anniversary

De Wereldwinkel (world shop-fair trade) Eindhoven has been in existence for 40 years. The fair trade shop at Hoogstraat will celebrate this special occasion on May 14, with amongst others an art exhibition and a lottery.

The exhibition will display art from Syria and Iraq. Proceeds raised from the lottery will benefit water projects located in the drought areas in Malawi. There will also be a fashion show.

According to the coordinator of the Wereldwinkel Eindhoven Marianne Kemps, a lot has changed in forty years:
‘Supermarkets now have an increasing assortment of fair trade products as the general public has become more conscious of the products they are consuming’.

De Wereldwinkel Eindhoven has moved location a couple of times during the last couple of years. Previously it was located at the Grote Berg and in the Heuvel Galerie.
