Eindhoven has a new technological research institute: DIFFER, the Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research. DIFFER aims to bring together science and industry in a national network to help develop new, efficient energy technology.
The institute wants to conduct leading fundamental research in the fields of fusion and solar fuels, in close partnership with academia and industry. For optimal collaboration and to expand their experiments, DIFFER recently moved to a new sustainable building on the campus of Eindhoven University of Technology.
Yesterday, Secretary of State Sander Dekker officially opened the building, in which 140 top researchers from all corners of the globe will be working together to help create a more sustainable world. A world, that is, without fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and natural gas.
