On Wednesday, 6 November, teachers in primary and secondary schools will go on strike. In Brabant, more than 100 schools will be closed on that day. Most of them are primary schools.
In July, teachers and school boards made a request to the Dutch Cabinet for €423,5 million. According to them, this amount is needed to increase salaries and address the teacher shortage problem. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte did not agree with this request, which is why the strike will go ahead.
Only 64 schools in Brabant planned to strike last week, but the number has now grown to 128.
Not going to The Hague
Striking teachers will not go to the Malieveld in The Hague on 6 November, as they did during the previous strike on 15 March. The teachers and school leaders aim to make themselves heard through social media as much as possible.
A large strike will be held in De Effenaar in Eindhoven.
