Bee hives destroyed

Eleven hives at Place to Bee, Eindhoven beekeepers’ association, have been knocked over. This association has reported the vandalism.

The bee houses were full of bees when they were pushed over last weekend. Earlier this year the association was hit by a fire. As a result, 200,000 bees were killed. “The destruction of other people’s belongings is becoming almost ‘normal’ on the estate, just like in society,” says Place to Bee.

The culprits are known to the association, thanks to the security on the estate. As a form of punishment, the association has offered the offender a basic beekeeping course. “If that does not work, he may come and help us with beekeeping on the estate for a while,” the club writes on its website.

“We believe people make this kind of choice from ignorance and do not foresee the consequences. It is good to take a look at the usefulness of bees and insects for the biodiversity on the estate and who knows he might find a nice day activity in it.”
