On Wednesday, the Eindhoven Library will open a branch at the Woensel Shopping Centre.
The new library site will be part of an experiment called Expeditie E (Expedition E). Here, the library of the future is meant to be found. What exactly this entails, is not yet clear. However, ideas will be supplemented by having plenty of discussions with Woensel residents. These people are encouraged to help come up with ideas for the library of the future.
There will also be more traditional library activities, such as reading, at this new location. There will be adult and youth books, as well as a coffee shop. Here coffee will be brewed using locally burnt beans.
This new library’s doors open with much fanfare on Wednesday at 13:00. Kids can have their faces painted between 13:00 and 15:00. Then, at 15:00, children up to the age of six will have stories read to them. At 16:00, there will be a Makers Club, where youngsters will learn how to make their own mini-catapult.
The library will be open from 13:00 to 17:00 from Mondays to Saturdays. On every first and last Sunday of the month, it will also be open at these same times.
