Two boys aged twelve and thirteen years old have been arrested in relation to a threatening phone call that was made to Albert Heijn XL in Woensel on Thursday evening. They called the bread department and threatened to cause a ‘bloodbath’ in the supermarket.
The police took the threat so seriously that the supermarket was immediately evacuated. Shoppers were told to abandon their groceries and staff were sent outside.
The police immediately started an investigation into who made the call. The police were able to trace the phone number that the call had been made from. This led them to the young duo.
The two boys are being interviewed and held in custody. The boys’ parents, as well as the Albert Heijn XL staff, have been informed.
The decision regarding whether or not to prosecute the boys ultimately lies in the hands of the juvenile prosecution board.
