A large practice exercise will be held close to Eindhoven Airport next month. 500 actors and relief workers will participate in an exercise responding to a rehearsed plane crash.

The scenario will involve the crash of a passenger aircraft. A ‘disaster site’ will be built, strewn with wreckage from an aircraft. The exercise will involve the regional fire service, Eindhoven municipality, Eindhoven Airport, the Royal Netherlands Air Force, military personnel and police.

The aim of the exercise is to test the existing Crisis Management plan, and to identify dilemmas that care providers could face. It will also be a test for the professionalism of the employees, and the effectiveness of communication between the organisations involved.
