The historical and archeological collections of the region all have come together in one place. Tens of thousands of objects of the cities of Eindhoven and Helmond, and from the collection of Eindhoven Museum are, from today, stored in a warehouse on Sectie-C in Tongelre.
At first, the collections were stored separately. With this cooperation it will be easier to organise exhibitions using the various objects. Also, it will mean a saving on the storage.
The 23 000 pieces from Eindhoven were previously stored at a warehouse on the canal. Here the humidity and temperature was not constant. In the new space, the temperature is at a constant 15-18 degrees Celsius and the humidity is around 55%. These are the optimum conditions for storing these, sometimes, centuries-old objects.
At the depot nothing will be on show, only stored. “We are a museum without a exhibition space”, says Mike Verdonk from Eindhoven Museum. “So we are always on the lookout for opportunities to cooperate with other institutions from Eindhoven.”
