The Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) has given permission for the merger plan of the Catharina hospital and the St. Anna Care Group, which is an important step in this process.
The NZa has determined that all parties are informed in time and that municipalities, insurance companies, doctors and banks have been able to make recommendations. Above all, with the merger the continuity of critical care is not at risk. It is now up to the Consumer and Market Authority to see if patients have enough freedom of choice left in the region.
Two hospitals in Eindhoven and Geldrop want to merge as they are able to continue to offer better basic and more complex care. The two sites for both hospitals are preserved. In Geldrop the focus will be on sports & exercise. The future core business of the Catharine hospital will be oncology and cardiovascular diseases.
Both hospitals keep the outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, Intensive Care and the outpatient unit.
