More green, wider sidewalks, less car traffic and more space for the cyclist. That is the way the Geldropseweg should look after the renovation, which will start in January 2019.
The road between the intersections Vestdijk/Hertogstraat and Sint Jorislaan/Gabriël Metsulaan will be dealt with well.
In addition, the front gardens are refurbished, but that part lies with the residents themselves. A workgroup with residents and entrepreneurs will convene with property owners to make improvements or adjustments to their property.
The budget for the renovation of the Geldropseweg amounts to 1,500,000 euros. 250,000 of which are meant for greenery.
There has been talk about renovation of the Geldropseweg for years, but it has always been postponed for various reasons. The current momentum is due to the residents and entrepreneurs of the Geldropseweg. They have collected more than 250 signatures and the citizens’ initiative has been put on the political agenda in this way.
