VDL and DAF are going to cooperate more intensively. This is what the two big Eindhoven companies announced in a press statement.
According to the companies, it took a long time to come to these new agreements. For example, VDL will supply more parts for the cabins of DAF trucks. The companies will also co-operate more in the future development of the electric truck. The two previously presented this innovation on Strijp-S. Furthermore, the two agreed that VDL would renew a production line in a Belgian DAF plant.
DAF and VDL have been working together since 1953. VDL has long been producing parts, such as engine mounts and battery boxes, for the trucks of the Eindhoven truck builder. In turn, DAF supplies motors and axles for VDL’s buses and coaches.
‘DAF and VDL are both customer and supplier to each other. Our jointly developed e-truck, which we presented in May last year, is the culmination of our 65-year partnership, “says VDL director, Willem van der Leegte.
Neither party wanted to disclose how much money is involved in the cooperation.
