ASML has done very well in the second quarter of this year.
The Veldhoven chip manufacturer has made much more profit and turnover over the past three months in comparison to the same period last year. The turnover went to more than 2.7 billion euros, an increase of 30%. The profit also rose almost as much.
There is a growing demand for the new EUV-machines of ASML, with which chips can be made, that makes computers even run faster. The EUV-machines cost more than 100 million euros each. This year twenty pieces will be sold. ASML expects to sell thirty pieces next year.
ASML has been the absolute world leader when it comes to the production of chip machines for many years. If growth continues, it is expected that the company will reach a yearly turnover of EUR 10 billion for the first time.
