The best library in the country is perhaps in Son en Breugel. Bieb Dommeldal is one of the five contenders for the honorary title ‘Best Library in the Netherlands 2023’.

The prize, which has been awarded twelve times since 2009, is an initiative of the Bibliotheekblad (library magazine). Other nominees are the library in Katwijk aan Zee, Barendrecht, Purmerend and Heteren. Which library comes out on top is determined by the audience and a jury.

The jury visits all finalists. During that visit, various components are examined. This includes looking at the location, the collection, the staff and the interior. The library’s programming also counts, for example whether courses and lectures are given.

Winner

The public can cast their votes until 29 October. You can vote here. The winner will be announced on 9 November uring the Bibliotheekplaza conference in Amsterdam.
