The elderly residents at Vitalis collected toys for disadvantaged children today.

“The fact that these elderly people are sitting here is really heartwarming for me. It is truly beautiful to see this happening for these children”, says Juul van der Velden, the Supervisor at Vitalis. She is very proud of the residents who participated. “Many of them suffer from dementia and are less able to take care of themselves. This kind of activity also makes them very happy.”

The Vitalis residents were able to collect all kinds of things over the past few months. Toys, clothing, and other gifts. Companies and individuals sponsored the elderly. “It started on a very small level, but now it has grown larger”, says Juul.

The gifts will go to less fortunate children from Veldhoven. “Sinterklaas is a celebration for everyone”, says one of the senior citizens participating in the project. “Every child should get a gift. Whether you have a lot of money or less money, Sinterklaas is really for everyone.”

The gifts are still at Vitalis Wissehaege but will be picked up tomorrow and distributed to the families.
