The Qbuzz bus company in Groningen and Drenthe has ordered 43 electric buses from VDL.

The order consists of eleven VDL Citeas SLFA-180 Electric and 32 VDL Citeas SLF-120 Electric buses. From the end of 2019, they will be deployed on city lines in Emmen, Assen, and Groningen. Since 2017, ten VDL electric buses have been operating at Qbuzz in the north of the country.

VDL sees the order as a confirmation of satisfaction with the quality of the delivered buses. “This second awarded order of electric buses is a vote of confidence from Qbuzz in VDL’s electrical product range and VDL as a vendor,” says a spokesperson for the company.

In July last year, Groningen and Drenthe chose Qbuzz as the bus transporter in both provinces. An important reason for this is Qbuzz’s ambition of electrifying the entire bus transport step by step. With the use of electric buses from December 2019, CO2 emissions will be reduced by 90%.
