Merijn, who lives in Son, won a championship in Dubai. According to a jury in Dubai, the barista from Son creates and serves the best coffee in the world. His coffee earned him a prize of roughly € 40,000.
Thirty-two-year-old Merijn from Son, participated in the tenth Dubai International Coffee Championship. This competition lasted from 5th till 7th December. It took place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, during the International Coffee and Tea Festival.
Thirty-two-year-old Merijn has made brewing a cup of coffee one of his specialities. He not only takes part in competitions, but also regularly demonstrates how to serve the perfect cup of coffee. Moreover: he trains other baristas.
Merijn regularly takes part in championships. In the World Barista Championship in South Korea, he finished 16th among 57 competitors. In Dubai, the competition tested “… the competitor across aspects of coffee making incorporating barista, latte art and brewing skills.”
