Family and family members of patients in Máxima Medical Center (MMC) are now welcome all day long.
Where the visiting hours until recently were established for all visitors, family members can now personally tune in with the patient when they like to visit. This can be done daily from 11:00 to 20:00 from April 2018 onwards.
“A uniform and broader opening up for visitors is more in keeping with the current zeitgeist,” said chairman of the board Jan Harm Zwaveling. “We think it is important that patients can decide for themselves when they want to receive a visit. Moreover, we hope to give family more space to help in the care. This is in line with the family-centered care principle that we stand for, aimed at personal and family-oriented care.” This is an initiative of the Nursing Advisory Board (VAR) of the hospital. Some nursing departments of MMC have already broadened their visiting times before and they like it very much; patients can better manage their own daily schedule. Family can also plan a visit to the hospital more flexible and, for example, more often short-term.
Space for recovery
However, rest for a sick or recovering patient and any other patients in the room is of great importance. That is why extra attention is paid to the visiting rules: for example, it is requested to visit with a maximum of two visitors at the same time and not to stay longer than half an hour. Care for the patient is always a priority.
