The population of Eindhoven and their surrounding towns has grown over the past year, according to figures from the CBS.
Especially Eindhoven, Eersel, Heeze-Leende and Best had a growth of more than ten new residents per thousand inhabitants. But also municipalities such as Nuenen, Geldrop-Mierlo, Oirschot, Waalre, Son en Breugel and Veldhoven can credit a plus. Nuenen and Veldhoven had the smallest growth in 2017.
Considering the whole Metropolis Eindhoven Region, there are a few outliers. Laarbeek and Gemert-Bakel are growing fast, and Cranendonck is the only shrink municipality of Southeast Brabant. It has no ‘natural cause’: the refugee centre in that municipality was closed.
In 2017 the citizen number in the Netherlands increased with 100,000 people, which is similar to 2016.
