Election 2017: Rutte’s VVD leads in first exit polls

Initial exit polls in the Dutch parliamentary election show Mark Rutte’s VVD party leading with 31 seats out of 150, while Geert Wilders’ PVV, the CDA, and D66 trail with 19 seats each.

The first exit poll, held at 43 of the country’s 9,300 polling stations, had a 2 percentage point error margin. The election’s final result is expected around midnight.
