The ice masters at the IJssportcentrum in Eindhoven are working day and night to get the ice rink ready in time for the opening. On October 14 the ice rink in the city should be open again.
The ice of the outdoor track still has to be fully established. Monday night the start was made and the first water was sprayed onto the track, in order for it to subsequently transform into ice.
The outdoor temperature is of great help for the ice masters. It’s easier the colder it is. Coordinator Robin van der Heijden explains. ‘We have a strong engine room that can cool the floor well from below, but a cold outdoor temperature is of great help. The water will freeze from the top as well.’
Getting the ice rink ready in time is naturally always stressful, but the organization is confident.
If they manage, it will be possible to skate on the ice rink starting Friday evening, outside in IJsportcentrum Eindhoven.
