With another six matches to go till the end of the season, head trainer Philip Cocu is still aiming for the championship. He said that after the match against Ajax, which PSV lost 0-2, allowing the Amsterdam side to take over the lead in the Premier League.
Ajax’s extremely fast head-start was disastrous for his team, acoording to Cocu’s analysis. ‘Dreadful defending,’ as he put it. The plan before the match was to bend Ajax’s will, but that plan failed after only two minutes. He did see that his team did everything they could to score the equaliser, but to no avail
Cocu felt that the second half was different: the play was too untidy, according to the trainer. And at the moment that Ajax made it 0-2, his team just lost faith, Cocu said.
Summarising the match, Cocu said his team had fought hard, but in the end it wasn’t good enough.
