The Eindhoven chipmaker NXP has taken over another company. British Althena SCS is now incorporated. NXP announced this on their website.
Althena SCS designs chips. They are mainly concerned with technology in different types of cards, pay-cards and access cards for example.
NXP also made the news last week by a takeover, when it became known that the company bought American Freescale for $ 12 billion. How much money is involved with this acquisition, is not disclosed.
