Aid funding for ‘youths in care’ guaranteed

Next year in the Southeast Brabant region, 20 youth organisations will be able to offer help and support to children and youths who have to (temporarily) live in an institution.

This is the outcome of the tendering procedure for ‘youth care with accommodation’. In this way, according to the responsible Alderman, Jannie Visscher, we can guarantee that all children and youths in our region who are referred to ‘youth care homes’ will receive assistance from their own health care provider. The aid will be given as long as their referral is valid in 2015, up until December 31st at the very latest.

We can also support youths who receive a re-referral and new cases who apply for youth care, no-one will be left by the wayside, said Visscher.

Youth care with accommodation is meant for children under 18 who (temporarily) live in an institution. Often, these children have experienced educational problems, mental health issues or intellectual disabilities.

Now it has been decided for definite which institutions may offer this form of youth assistance, the affected youths and their parents will be informed about their personal situation as soon as possible in 2015. Every municipality does so in its own way.
