Alderman Yasin Torunoglu and the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) are planning to open a new centre for asylum seekers in the Eindhoven district Blixembosch. Up to 700 people will be housed in the Orangerie, a former Archipel care centre for the elderly.
The alderman stated that he sees it as a duty for Eindhoven to accommodate the asylum seekers. He hopes that residents of the city will welcome these people with open arms, as is the Eindhoven way of doing things. Torunoglu thus responds to a distress call from State Secretary Teeven and the COA request for help.
In order to inform the district well, there will be a sounding board. An informative evening will be organized as well. The first occupants are probably going to arrive towards the end of November.
