This coming weekend, the music festival Certamen de Tunas will be organised in Eindhoven for the fourteenth time. The Tuna festival is a recurring event where Spanish, South American, and now also Dutch groups come together in Eindhoven to make music.

During the Tuna festival, a medieval student tradition, the participating groups compete for various prizes and the title of ‘Mejor Tuna’. Notably, this year marks the 60th anniversary of Tuna Ciudad de Luz. Some founding members will also be performing on stage.

On Friday, between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, the Pasacalles will take place. During this event, the groups parade through the streets of Eindhoven, playing music. Later in the evening, between 9:30 PM and 11:00 PM, the Tuna groups will give romantic serenades during the Ronda Balcón at Café Den Hertog and Dommel 18.

Certamen

The main part of the festival will take place the following day, from 3:00 PM until late at night. During the Certamen, the participating groups will showcase their best musical and artistic talents on stage at the Paterskerk of Domus Dela. These performances are open to the public.

There will also be various performances by Tuna groups on Sunday, which can be seen and heard at the Paterskerk of Domus Dela.
