More than 200 participants on first Eindhoven ‘Plandeldag’

More than two hundred volunteers participated in the first Eindhoven ‘Plandeldag’ on Saturday. During this initiative of the local Troop Troopers Eindhoven, in collaboration with the Plandelman, litter was cleaned up. The participants came from different parts of the Netherlands.

Plandelman is an influencer named Anton who wants to combat litter. His name, which means ‘collecting’ and ‘walking’, is the inspiration behind Plandel Day. He promotes the day via his social media channel with almost 1400 followers.

The 200 volunteers have collected waste in twenty Eindhoven neighbourhoods. Not only Eindhoven residents attended. A delegation from Venlo, representatives from Bakel-Gemert and a student club from Utrecht joined the event.

According to Gina Makken of Troep Troopers, this is what makes it so much fun: “Cleaning up litter together also opens the door to getting to know people in a relaxed way. We do not look at origin, religion, physical mobility or age: everyone is welcome.”

Support

The Eindhoven Plandeldag also received a lot of support from various companies. Parktheater and the Philips Fruittuin were actively involved in the event. In addition, Ergon provided additional materials, such as grippers and construction sheds, and took care of the removal of the collected waste. “At Ergon, we like to facilitate these types of activities,” the company states.
