René van Diessen is appointed as Geldrop-Mierlo’s acting mayor. He will commence his duties once mayor Donders leaves her post by the end of January.
Mayor Donders has had her official farewell ceremony at the end of last week; however, her last day in office is 30 January. Immediately thereafter, she will commence her duties as mayor of Roermond. Mr. van Diessen will be acting mayor of Geldrop-Mierlo as of 2 February.
Van Diessen, a VVD political party member, has functioned as Alderman in Tilburg. Furthermore, he has been a member of the Provincial Executive Council of the provinces Gelderland and Flevoland. His most recent post has been acting mayor of Dongen
